Case Study: Stiner v. Amazon.com, Inc.

Given the immense popularity of e-commerce and the dominance of  Amazon over that market, this case study from the Supreme Court of Ohio analyzed a critical question. That is, is a third-party seller liable in a product liability action when it facilitates the purchase, but does not otherwise participate in the sale? Though the issue was discussed under an Ohio statute, similarly worded rules from around the country make this question important to product liability actions against e-commerce distributors through out the country.
