Case Study: Hayes v Chaparral Energy

As with much of the rest of this course, this case study focuses on the intersection of property law and environmental law. In this case, the issue was whether a government agency properly considered all necessary factors in approving an oil and gas lease and drill permits. The court drills deep into the standards of review required by the National Environmental Policy Act and how those were applied by the government review agency to the various facets of this case.
